Wamunyoro was once again the centre of Kenya’s opposition politics today. DCP Party Leader H.E. Rigathi Gachagua hosted Wiper Patriotic Front leader Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka and DAP-K leader Hon. Eugene Wamalwa for high-level consultations on building a united front ahead of the August 2027 General Election.

H.E. Gachagua and Pastor Dorcas Rigathi received Hon. Musyoka and a delegation of his close allies mid-morning. The meeting went on for several hours. Welcoming his guest, the Party Leader set the tone for the day:

“Welcome to Wamunyoro, my cousin Kalonzo Musyoka. Unity of purpose is vital!”

One candidate, one team

H.E. Gachagua said the consultations are focused on the liberation of our country and the formation of the Sixth Administration. He announced that all parties have agreed on the need to field one presidential candidate, and that they are ready to make whatever sacrifices are needed to achieve that unity. The consultations continue.

DCP and Wiper: inseparable

After the talks, DCP Secretary General Hon. John Methu said the two leaders had committed to keep visiting each other as the parties build a stronger, more robust partnership. Kitui Senator Hon. Enock Wambua dismissed speculation about the visit and declared that DCP and Wiper are inseparable.

Hon. Methu said the discussions focused on strengthening the opposition and consolidating support across its strongholds. The leaders also agreed to bring on board like-minded parties and players committed to ensuring that President William Ruto serves only one term.

A Christmas present for Kenyans

Hon. Wamalwa said the talks have moved beyond whether the opposition will unite to how and when it will happen. Once one common team is agreed, he said, the leaders will settle the line-up. Consultations will intensify through December, and he expressed confidence that Kenyans can expect “a Christmas present” before the end of the year.

Momentum is building

Today’s meeting is the latest in a series of major engagements at Wamunyoro since the Party Leader returned from his two-month tour of the United States. On Mashujaa Day, 20 October, he hosted Nairobi Senator Hon. Edwin Sifuna and the Linda Mwananchi leadership.

In just one week, the leaders of Linda Mwananchi, Wiper and DAP-K have all come to Wamunyoro. DCP is at the heart of the conversation that will shape the 2027 contest.

To our members and supporters: the work of building a winning team is well underway, and your party is leading it. Stay organised, stay registered, and stay ready.
