
How to Resign from Your Current Political Party and Join DCP
Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide to help you resign from your current political party and register as a DCP member using the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) USSD service or website.
Step 1: Resign from Your Current Political Party
Option A: Using the USSD Code *509#
- Dial *509# on your mobile phone.
- If you are a first-time user, follow the prompts to register by entering your ID number and first name as they appear on your national ID.
- You’ll receive an ORPP PIN via SMS.
- Dial *509# again and enter your PIN.
- Select “Membership” from the menu.
- Choose Option 3: “Resign” to formally leave your current party.
- Confirm your details to complete the resignation process.
Option B: Online via the ORPP Portal
- Visit the Integrated Political Parties Management System (IPPMS) at https://ippms.orpp.or.ke or log in through eCitizen.
- Register or log in using your ID number and first name.
- Navigate to “Membership Resignation” under your account.
- Confirm your resignation by following the on-screen prompts and entering the OTP sent to your phone.
- Check your registration status to ensure you are no longer affiliated with any party.
Step 2: Register as a Member of DCP
Option A: Using the USSD Code *509#
- Dial *509# again.
- Enter your ORPP PIN.
- Select “Membership.”
- Choose the option to “Join a party.”
- Enter the party name: DCP.
- Enter the party code: 829.
- Provide your county, constituency, and ward codes as prompted.
- Confirm your details to complete your registration as a DCP member.
Option B: Online via the ORPP Portal
- Log in to the IPPMS portal or eCitizen as above.
- Go to the “Join a Party” section.
- Select “Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP)” from the list.
- Fill in your details and submit your application.
- Wait for confirmation from the party, your membership will be updated once approved.
